EMCOR UK: Why a women’s network is essential

The Challenge

We’re proud to say that EMCOR UK is a long standing client who we’ve been working with since 2019! Caroline Joy, Head of Learning and Development, brought us into the organisation after being inspired by Clare at a research conference. When Caroline first reached out in 2019, she highlighted that there was a gap in menopause knowledge and awareness that they were keen to address, alongside the desire to create a space for women to come together to share their ideas and experiences.

 

The Solution

We developed and delivered comprehensive menopause awareness training for EMCOR UK employees. The training explored why menopause is a workplace issue, how it can impact people experiencing the menopause, some midlife menopause myths, and how we can have sensitive conversations in the workplace.

 

Fast forward five years, and we’re facilitating a monthly Women’s Network for the third year! Each month we explore a different topic – chosen based on feedback from members of the network – and offer a safe space for members to share their lived experiences and connect with others. Delivered via Teams, the network sees 40+ women from across the business come together each month.

 

Impact

Over the past five years, the menopause awareness training has contributed to a more informed and empathetic workplace environment at EMCOR UK and our monthly Women’s Network, now in its third year, has proven to be a resounding success! With over 40 women from diverse areas of the business participating, the network provides a safe space for open discussions and shared experiences. The positive impact is evident in the feedback received from participants, affirming personal growth, inspiration, and a sense of pride in working for EMCOR UK.
